Natchitoches, Louisiana – Exciting Events Unfold as Rainy Weather Approaches

As fall rolls in and leaves begin to change, residents of Natchitoches are preparing for a week filled with unpredictable weather and local news. This warm day on November 3rd brings a blend of rain and cloudiness, with temperatures hovering around 80°F and a slight breeze from the southeast. It’s the kind of day where a light jacket might come in handy if you’re heading out later in the evening. So, grab your umbrella; there’s a 50% chance of rain at any moment!

Weather Forecast: What to Expect

Today, we can expect rain showers early in the day, but don’t let that dampen your spirit. As the day moves along, cloudy skies will dominate, leaving us with occasional rain showers into the night. With a low of 73°F, it’s going to be a warm evening, so there’s no need to bundle up too much! Winds will be gentle, coming in at about 10 to 15 mph, creating just enough breeze to feel refreshing as you enjoy your weekend plans.

Local Crime Update: Vehicle Chase on Halloween

In other news, on the evening of October 31st, just as little ghouls and goblins were making their rounds, something a bit scarier was unfolding elsewhere in the city. Around 4:00 p.m., the Natchitoches Police Department received word from the Shreveport Police that a stolen vehicle was on the move, pinging its location in the 1400 block of Grayson Street.

Local officers, alongside the helpful troopers of the Louisiana State Police, sprang into action. They swiftly located the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver seemed to have other plans, leading police on a brief car chase that ended when the vehicle crashed in the 300 block of Fourth Street.

The aftermath saw the two suspects fleeing on foot but quickly brought to justice. Both were arrested and face a variety of charges. Teondre Wright, a 24-year-old from Natchitoches, is facing charges including resisting arrest, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was promptly placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

On the other hand, the younger accomplice, Trevonne Wright, just 17, is charged with aggravated flight, reckless operation, and illegal possession of stolen things. He has been placed in a detention center in Jackson Parish, reminding us of the serious consequences that come with such reckless behavior.

Community Call to Action

The Natchitoches Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to the Louisiana State Police and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for their quick assistance during the incident. They remind us all of the importance of community involvement, asking anyone with further information or who might have witnessed the event to come forward.

If you have any tips or information that might help the investigation, call the Natchitoches Police Department at (318) 352-8101. Remember, all reports remain confidential. There’s also a chance to earn rewards through Natchitoches Crime Stoppers!
