Sponsor Our ArticlesShreveport, Louisiana, is buzzing with excitement as the Sci-Port Discovery Center prepares to unveil significant upgrades to its SWEPCO Bright Ideas Demonstration Theater. This fantastic news not only reflects the center’s commitment to enhancing educational experiences but also highlights the collaborative effort of several key partners who made these improvements possible. Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 24th, at 1 PM, when community members are invited to join in the official celebration!
Tucked away in downtown Shreveport at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway, the Discovery Center is ready to elevate the way visitors experience STEM education through its upgraded theater system. Imagine a world where educational presentations are brought to life in stunning detail! Thanks to innovative contributions from SWEPCO, this vision is becoming a reality with the installation of a state-of-the-art projector and screen system.
William Bradford, for SWEPCO, shared his enthusiasm for this venture: “SWEPCO is proud to support the Bright Ideas Demonstration Theater because hands-on learning is crucial for sparking a love for knowledge and understanding in young people.” This new equipment promises to create more interactive and engaging experiences that inspire youth and foster a lasting appreciation for STEM.
But that’s not all! The upgrades don’t stop with the projector and screen. The Louisiana Public Service Commission also stepped in by providing essential funding for an advanced lighting system. This isn’t any run-of-the-mill lighting either; the upgrade includes new overhead house lighting and theatrical spot lighting, along with a sophisticated control system that is manageable from anywhere in the building. Talk about convenience!
Thanks to TruBlueAV LLC, the theater’s energy efficiency has taken a giant leap forward, enhancing the overall quality of the presentations you’ll see. Their expertise has transformed the space, ensuring that visuals are not only more vivid but also more sustainable.
To top off these astounding upgrades, Fusiform Design Workshop has contributed by designing and installing a custom stage backdrop wall. This lively creation doesn’t just add flair; it complements the new Bright Ideas Demonstration Theater signage, which creates an inviting and contemporary atmosphere for all of Sci-Port’s STEM programs.
Dianne Clark, the Executive Director at Sci-Port Discovery Center, expressed her gratitude for the support: “These enhancements mark a significant step forward in our mission to provide high-quality, engaging educational experiences. We are incredibly grateful to SWEPCO, LA Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell, TruBlueAV LLC, and Fusiform for their commitment to our mission.”
As the community gears up for the unveiling event, there is palpable excitement in Shreveport. It’s a chance for families and individuals to come together and witness how the theater’s transformation promises to enrich educational experiences for all. Whether you’re a STEM enthusiast, a curious parent, or a local, this is an event you’ll want to attend!
