Overturned car on avenue
In a tragic turn of events, one woman lost her life and two individuals were injured due to a severe motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jewella Avenue in Shreveport on Tuesday morning.
The distressing incident unfolded a little after 11 a.m. in the 7000 block of Jewella Avenue near West 70th Street. Local fire department received a call indicating the accident’s severity as a car-pedestrian accident, leading to the vehicle flipping over.
The casualty was identified as Theresa A. Randle, a 63-year-old Shreveport local. Reportedly, she was ejected from the vehicle she was a passenger in due to the impact of the collision.
Emergency services quickly rushed Randle to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Despite the swift response and lifesaving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 12:51 p.m. This incident has plunged the local community into mourning.
Unfortunately, two other individuals also sustained injuries in the accident. However, the extent of their injuries and their current medical condition remains undisclosed at this time. Their identities have not been released to respect their privacy. Updates regarding their health will likely be provided as more information becomes available.
As for the accident’s cause, it is still under investigation. Accident Reconstruction Teams are currently analyzing the scene to determine if speed, impairment, distracted driving, or other factors led to this tragic outcome. They are also working on gathering witness statements and any available traffic camera footage.
Authorities are also appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the accident or captured it on a dashcam to come forward. Eyewitness accounts might play a crucial role in piecing together the events leading up to this unfortunate incident.
