People using free tax filing site
SHREVEPORT, La. – Now, more than ever, most households in northwest Louisiana are finding it challenging to balance their budgets. In support of these people, United Way of NWLA has teamed up with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide annual free tax preparation options. These programs aim to support financial stability and relieve the financial stress involved in filing taxes for thousands of families in the local community.
Several local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites are now available to help the public with their tax preparation. To be eligible for the program, a taxpayer’s income must be below $64,000. Trained and IRS-certified volunteers do the tax preparation. They are tasked with handling simple returns with W-2 and 1099 forms, excluding itemized or business taxes. The United Way of Northwest Louisiana requires taxpayers to make appointments to participate in the VITA program.
United Way of Northwest Louisiana further assists with financial issues. If you’re looking for additional financial support programs, you can visit their official website and explore the various options available to assist your particular needs.
