About the Musical
The Lightning Thief is a thrilling musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling novel, making its Broadway debut back in 2019. It follows the adventures of Percy Jackson, who discovers he is the half-blood son of a Greek god. With extraordinary powers he’s still trying to grasp, Percy embarks on an exciting quest to find Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and prevent a massive war among the gods, all while uncovering his true destiny. The show features an electrifying rock score by Rob Rokicki and a fast-paced book by Joe Tracz that is sure to engage both young and older audiences alike.

With evident enthusiasm, Director Ray Scott Crawford shared, “This spectacular Broadway musical presents many exciting challenges for our students and our technical staff to meet. Bringing these beloved characters to stage while creating the mythology and magic between this world and that of the gods requires a particular level of creativity and fun. Our students are having a blast, and I bet our audiences will as well. This is a great way to start a season!”
Meet the Cast
A standout of this production is sophomore performing arts student Ja’Siah Jackson, who will take on the pivotal role of Percy Jackson himself. Sharing his excitement, he said, “This is my second year at Bossier Parish Community College, and I love being part of the performing arts program. Acting is part of who I am, and I’m excited to play Percy Jackson in my fourth show here, bringing this epic demigod quest to life.”
The cast is filled with talented performers, including Riley Burns as Annabeth, Colby Garrett as Grover, Ryan Vallia-Towe as Mr. D (Dionysus)/Gabe, and Mike Elmore playing dual roles as Poseidon and Kronos. Other notable cast members include Trey Upton (Luke), Julia Parr (Sally Jackson/Charon), and Sarah Foster (Mrs. Dodds/Auntie Em).
The Technical Crew
Behind the scenes, the production is equally impressive with David White stepping in as the Technical Director. Rona Leber is responsible for costume design, ensuring the performers look the part, while Alexis Rhodes takes on the role of Stage Manager. The crew also boasts talents like Kelsea Lee, serving as the Music Technician, and Ellen Douglas as Combat Assistant.
