Shreveport, Louisiana, is facing a troubling wave of violence as multiple shootings have recently left the community shaken. The tragic incidents highlight rising concerns about public safety and the need for collective action to stem the tide of gun violence.
This morning, just before 11 a.m., police rushed to the 2400 block of Jennie Street after reports of a woman shot. Upon arrival, they learned that a man had shot his girlfriend. Thankfully, her injuries are being labeled as non-life-threatening, and she is currently receiving medical treatment. However, the shooter remains at large with authorities still gathering information on this alarming incident, leaving many in the community anxious and unsettled.
In a separate but equally disturbing incident, the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has identified two young men, JaCorey Fuller, 28, and Noah Penn, 24, who tragically lost their lives in a shooting outside the Haze nightclub on March 18. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours around 2:30 a.m., shocking revelers and residents alike.
Reports indicated that one victim was found shot outside the nightclub and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. In a tragic twist, three others arrived at the hospital under emergency conditions, with one of them unfortunately succumbing to their injuries. The two remaining victims are currently in recovery. This violence marks the eighth and ninth homicides in Shreveport in 2025, highlighting an unsettling trend of increasing violent crime within the city.
Just hours after the shooting on Jennie Street, another terrifying incident unfolded involving a 14-year-old boy. He was shot in the stomach on Oak Valley Drive around 6:30 p.m. and was found lying in the street with a serious gunshot wound. Immediately rushed to the local hospital, his condition was reported as life-threatening, further aggravating the sense of urgency and fear in the community. As with the earlier incidents, there were no witnesses or known suspects, leaving investigators working tirelessly to gather leads and demanding anyone with information to step forward.
Adding to the week’s violence, a woman was shot in the leg while sitting in a car at Bilberry Park on March 31 around 8:30 p.m. The shooting appeared to be random and stemmed from gunfire coming from within the park area. Luckily, the victim managed to drive herself to a nearby fire station, where emergency responders took over and transported her to a hospital. Her injuries, deemed non-life-threatening, are a slight relief amidst the chaos, but the incident adds to a growing list of concerns for Shreveport residents.
The increasing number of shootings in Shreveport has sparked widespread concern, with community leaders urging for a concerted effort to address the root causes of such violence. As of now, the police department is actively investigating, and authorities are strongly encouraging anyone with information to come forward. The patterns of gun violence not only put those directly involved in danger but also deeply affect the collective sense of safety in neighborhoods across the city.
Residents are left wondering what can be done to reduce gun violence and support the local community as these tragic events unfold. As they seek answers, it is clear that the fight against gun violence requires awareness, action, and community solidarity to ensure everyone can feel safe again in their own city.
