Halloween Celebrations Light Up Shreveport
As the spooky season approaches, Shreveport has been buzzing with excitement, and this past weekend was no exception! Families and friends gathered for a variety of fun-filled events across the area, ensuring that everyone could enjoy Halloween festivities in a safe and engaging way.
A Spooktacular Trunk-or-Treat at Gateway Church
Kicking off the weekend’s celebrations, Gateway Church in Shreveport organized an interactive trunk-or-treating event that had everyone smiling. Rather than the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, this community event showcased unique game stations at each car trunk where children could play and win delicious candy treats. Dressed in all manner of creative costumes, families filled the church parking lot, creating a vibrant atmosphere of excitement and laughter.
Pastor Scott Holmes, who oversaw the event, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Well, we’re gonna do it again next year! Although we’re not sure of the exact date yet, it usually happens on the weekend before Halloween. We just want to give everyone a chance to stay safe, come out, and enjoy a great time.” His sentiments resonated as families happily participated in the games while also enjoying the sense of community.
Fall Vibes at Cross Pointe Church
Meanwhile, across town at Cross Pointe Church, the annual fall festival was drawing in crowds with its enticing offerings. Dozens of families embraced the cheerful fall vibes with a range of activities designed to entertain kids and adults alike. As they filled the church grounds, you could smell delicious food wafting through the air and hear laughter echoing from nearby bounce houses.
This year, the fall festival featured an exciting lineup including trunk-or-treating, bounce houses, face painting, and even a costume contest with cash prizes! Pastor Austin Cragun shared his thoughts on the event, saying, “Every year, we pretty much do the same thing, but we always have those big jump houses that we rent out here. We also run a $100 gift card giveaway. You fill out a card, and we do a drawing, giving everyone a chance to win!”
In addition, the competition for the best costume was fierce, with three top contestants vying for the coveted prizes. With face painting and free food also available, it was no surprise that families left with smiles and happy memories.
