Ensuring the legacy of classic Southern BBQ, Clay has etched his name into the hearts of many food enthusiasts with his succulent BBQ offerings and affable personality.
Clay’s sudden demise was announced on April 18, leaving his family, friends, and thousands of BBQ aficionados bereft. His skilful mastery of the grill and unique BBQ recipes had carved a distinctive niche for his restaurant over the years.
In an emotional note, Clay’s daughter mentioned, “My Dad touched many lives across country and even around the world. He will truly be missed. I thank you to all who have reached out sending love, support, and prayers.” The overwhelming condolences pouring in stand as a testament to Harvey Clay’s immense popularity and the indelible impact of his splendid cooking skills.
He was a constant presence in many culinary shows where he willingly shared his expert grilling tips, leading by example and inspiring many aspiring pitmasters.
Mourning the loss of their beloved culinary maestro, Shreveport will bid their final adieu to Harvey Clay on April 20. His funeral will kick-off with a viewing at 10 a.m, followed by the service at 11 a.m at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 3300 Greenwood Road.
Apart from tantalizing countless taste buds, Harvey Clay was unarguably a solid pillar of the local community. Always up for lending a hand, he was involuted in numerous community service initiatives. His restaurant, Real BBQ and More, frequently played host to local charity events and fundraisers.
His larger-than-life persona, combined with his insurmountable contributions to the local culinary scene, has indeed left a void that won’t be easily filled. As the Shreveport community comes together to share their grief, Clay’s life and legacy continue to be celebrated in every BBQ platter served hot from the grills.
