Sponsor Our ArticlesIn a development that will affect some residents of Haughton in Bossier Parish, officials with Consolidated Water Sewer District #1 have announced a temporary interruption in water service starting Tuesday night, May 14, 2024. The interruption will specifically impact customers dwelling on Highway 80, east of Mahaffey Farms. The water service is scheduled to be cut-off from 10 p.m. and should be restored by 6 a.m. the following morning.
The interruption has been scheduled to accommodate necessary works that involve the making of three crossover pipe connections at Highway 80 and Ward Lane. The maintenance work is set to be conducted during off-peak hours to mitigate inconveniences that may arise from the service interruption.
Not all areas serviced by Consolidated Water Sewer District #1 will be affected by this temporary service interruption. Only customers from specific locations will be impacted, and these include:
This temporary water service interruption will necessitate a boil advisory once the water service is restored.
This means that residents in the affected areas should boil their water prior to consumption (drinking, cooking, etc.) until further notice. The advisory will remain in effect until water samples from the completed work have been tested and verified to be safe for consumption by the Louisiana Department of Health.
Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to monitor reports closely and follow the issued boil advisory until officials confirm that the water is safe to consume without boiling. Further updates will be made available as more information emerges regarding the reinstatement of the service.
Officials apologize for the inconvenience caused by this interruption and appreciate their consumers’ understanding while they carry out the necessary works to improve the water infrastructure.
In other news around Haughton, current police investigations are underway regarding a preteen shot dead while allegedly trying to break into vehicles. Moreover, an altercation in Bossier City led to a woman being shot after discovering another woman at her boyfriend’s house. Added to that, two men were reportedly involved in a knife fight over a woman, and the areas around Beacon Motel and Zaxby’s were taped off with crime scene tape.
