Sponsor Our ArticlesHey Shreveport! Are you ready to celebrate and recognize the vibrant Hispanic heritage in our community? Well, mark your calendars because this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off on September 15 and promises a fabulous lineup of events that spotlights the rich culture and contributions of the Hispanic community in the ArkLaTex region.
For those who may not know, Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15 every year. It serves as a time to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. This month-long celebration takes place just in time to recognize several important anniversaries in Latin American independence.
Here in Shreveport, the folks at 318 Latino and the Hispanic Heritage Association of Northwest Louisiana are eager to bring the community together through a variety of exciting events. According to one of the co-founders of the association, Briant Garcia, this year’s focus is on connecting community members and showcasing everything positive that our Latino residents contribute to the vibrant tapestry of life in our city.
So, what can you expect this month? Here’s a sneak peek at some of the upcoming events that you won’t want to miss:
It’s important to highlight that these events are not just about having a good time, although, of course, that’s a key part of it! They are also about fostering a sense of unity and appreciation within our diverse community. Briant Garcia emphasizes “the importance of celebrating who we are as a people.” He wants everyone to feel welcome and included, regardless of their background.
Whether you’re from the Latino community or just someone interested in learning more about it, all are welcome to partake in the festivities. The goal is to create an inviting atmosphere where friendships can blossom and cultural exchanges can take place.
As Hispanic Heritage Month unfolds this September, it’s a wonderful chance for everyone in Shreveport to come together to celebrate the beautiful cultures that make our city unique. With vibrant events planned, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in rich traditions, learn something new, and make lasting memories.
So, get excited, gather your friends and family, and prepare to explore the wonderful world of Hispanic culture right here in Shreveport. We hope to see you out and about, celebrating this meaningful occasion and supporting our diverse community.
Let’s make this Hispanic Heritage Month one to remember!
