Shreveport Celebrates Hispanic Teachers at Honorary Ceremony

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – On May 18, a local organization honored Hispanic teachers for their contributions to the community.

Hundreds of people gathered in Shreveport to celebrate and formally recognize Hispanic educators from more than three parishes, including charter, private, and public schools. The event, organized by the Hispanic Heritage Association of Northwest Louisiana, aimed to highlight the significant impact these teachers have on the community.

A Night of Recognition and Appreciation

The ceremony, held on May 18, was a night filled with gratitude and admiration for the Hispanic teachers who go above and beyond in their roles. Attendees were presented with certificates and awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community.

Briant Garcia, a board member of the Hispanic Heritage Association, emphasized the importance of honoring these teachers for their dedication and hard work. “The Hispanic teachers were also given the Life Achievement Award. They work far above and beyond their roles as teachers, helping students not only academically but also emotionally and practically,” Garcia stated.

Many of the Hispanic teachers recognized at the ceremony were praised for their efforts in supporting students facing various challenges, including food insecurity and home-related issues.
