Sponsor Our ArticlesDecember is truly a magical time in Bossier City, as our beloved first responders continue to spread joy and happiness through their annual Heroes and Helpers Toy Shopping Christmas Event. Formerly known as “Shop with a Cop,” this jovial gathering took place on the evening of December 6, 2024, at Target Bossier City, where the holiday spirit was alive and well!
This heartwarming event kicked off at 6 p.m. and was proudly sponsored by the Bossier City Police Union Local 645. The community came alive as local heroes from both the Bossier City Police Department and the Bossier City Fire Department enthusiastically volunteered to team up with nearly 60 children who were about to experience a holiday shopping spree like no other!
Each child was gifted an amazing $150 shopping spree at Target, which allowed them to pick out items that would surely put smiles on their faces this Christmas. Shawn Pouerier from the Bossier City Police Union shared, “Doing this for the kids—it’s the happiest of times for us. This is my favorite day of the year. To see the smile on these kids’ faces is priceless.”
The Heroes and Helpers event is more than just a delightful gift-giving occasion; it serves as a unique opportunity for officers to connect with local youth. In a festive and positive environment, these public safety officers aim to demonstrate kindness, care, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of the children they serve. It’s about building trust and creating lasting memories.
By taking the time to engage with the kids in a joyful setting, the officers are showing that they are there not only in times of need but also to bring a little light and laughter into the community. “It’s heartwarming to see the parents express their gratitude,” added Shawn. “We love making a difference in their lives.”
This cherished holiday tradition wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of local sponsors and businesses who have come together to ensure everyone has a chance to experience the joy of the season. The generosity we see here reflects the true spirit of Christmas, as it spreads hope and happiness to families across Bossier City.
Many children left the event with gifts they may not have been able to enjoy otherwise. For them, this special night has become a cherished memory and a beacon of joy during the holiday season. It’s a testament to the community’s love and willingness to help those in need.
If you’re ready to spread some holiday cheer and experience the warmth of the season for yourself, consider getting involved next year! There are so many ways to participate and help continue this wonderful tradition!
Let’s all celebrate the kindness and generosity shown by our first responders and community members. In Bossier City, we truly know how to come together and make magic happen, especially during this wonderful time of the year!
