Caddo Parish School Board Appoints Interim Superintendent

Caddo Parish School Board Appoints Interim Superintendent

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Caddo Parish School Board Takes First Steps Toward Selecting New Superintendent

The Caddo Parish School Board has initiated the process of appointing the next superintendent for the region’s public schools. A special session was convened on Wednesday afternoon (April 24) for approving the procedural roadmap for the next appointment. Elaborating the development, the board announced Leisa Woolfolk as the district’s interim superintendent.

Interim Superintendent Expresses Diligence

Leisa Woolfolk, who has taken over the interim responsibilities, shed light on the immediate roadmap while interacting with media representatives. “Given the gap in appointing a permanent superintendent, I stepped up to ensure the continued progress in Caddo’s education system. We are prioritizing preparing our students who are lagging this summer and engaging with administrators to reopen schools in August,” Woolfolk shared.

Succeeding Dr. T. Lamar Goree

The interim office precedes the tenured service of Dr. T. Lamar Goree, who has served the board as Superintendent for more than a decade. Following a glorious stint with the Caddo Public Schools, he will be moving to Texas soon and will be assuming the role of Superintendent at the Duncanville Independent School District. According to the board, he will be discharging his duties at Caddo till May 31.

Continuity and Transition

The board’s selection of Ms. Woolfolk carries forward the momentum of Goree’s resilient leadership. It is hoped that during this period of transition, the educational standards of Caddo’s schools will continue to thrive under the trusted improvised leadership of the newly appointed interim superintendent.

Now, the focus is turned towards selecting a permanent successor for Dr. Goree, a process that is likely to be systematic and rigorous given the importance and magnitude of the role in question. The outcome of this process is eagerly anticipated by all stakeholders and is bound to be a defining moment for Caddo Parish School Board.
