Shreveport, Louisiana, found itself transformed into a vibrant tropical paradise over the weekend, as friends, colleagues, and community members gathered at a stunning island venue on Cross Lake to celebrate a remarkable milestone. The festivities were all in honor of Shreveport Attorney Jackie Scott, affectionately known as “Justice Jackie,” who toasted her impressive 35 years as an attorney and entrepreneur.
As guests arrived, they were treated to a unique experience. They traveled by private barge, accompanied by the sweet sounds of Hawaiian music wafting through the air. Upon disembarking, a red carpet and a stunning display of 200 sparklers illuminated the path, creating a magical entrance that set the tone for the night ahead. The pavilion on the island, surrounded by the shimmering waters, served as the perfect backdrop for this grand celebration.
Among the highlights of the evening, Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux, accompanied by First Lady Elizabeth, presented a proclamation declaring it “Attorney Jackie Scott Weekend” in the city. Standing before the crowd, Mayor Arceneaux read a heartfelt list of Scott’s achievements, showcasing her dedication and contributions to the community.
In response, Scott reflected on her humble beginnings growing up as one of six siblings raised by a single mother. She shared fond memories of her childhood in “The Alley” of Allendale, echoing her gratitude, “I am grateful to you … you are so welcome to my ‘Alley’ tonight.” With a smile, she concluded, “Okay. Let’s party!”
And party they did! The evening featured a delicious buffet dinner served in the pavilion, offering a variety of meats, vegetables, and delectable desserts. In true tropical spirit, Scott led some lively singing during a Hawaiian program, drawing her guests into the celebratory mood.
As night fell, the festivities escalated with a spectacular fireworks display, illuminating the lake and leaving guests in awe. A champagne toast added an air of sophistication to the celebration, while a special cigar bar delighted many attendees seeking a more relaxed experience.
The guest list read like a who’s who of Shreveport, including prominent figures such as Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Caddo District Attorney James Stewart, and judges from the local courts. The Krewe Harambee Queen Markey Pierre and numerous community leaders were among the 200 guests who arrived to honor Scott. Many complied with her invitation to wear tropical attire, and the fashion on display reflected the festive environment.
Scott’s family was also present, including her daughter, Lawryn Scott, who recently graduated from LSU Law and has joined her mother’s practice. Notably, the security was handled by members of the renowned Silver Fox Squad, known for their stylish gray beards and global experiences. In a heartfelt gesture, Scott treated them to dinner, emphasizing the sense of community that permeated the night.
As the evening wound down, guests made their way to the hill to witness the fireworks, illuminating the sky as they held their cell phones high, creating a picturesque sight. Throughout the night, laughter, camaraderie, and joy filled the air, making it a truly memorable celebration of Jackie Scott’s accomplishments and contributions to Shreveport.
As the festivities wrapped up, it was clear that not only was Jackie Scott a beloved attorney and entrepreneur, but she was also a pillar of the Shreveport community, bringing people together in merriment and gratitude.
