Gaming Veteran to Take Reins of $270 Million Live! Casino in Bossier City

John J. Chaszar Appointed to Run $270 Million Live! Casino in Bossier City

Bossier City, Louisiana – A new era is dawning in the city with the announcement that gaming industry veteran John J. Chaszar has been appointed as the executive vice president and general manager of the new $270 million Live! Casino & Hotel.

This monumental project, spearheaded by The Cordish Companies, will be the first land-based casino resort in the Shreveport-Bossier market. The casino resort is slated for opening in the first quarter of 2025.

John Chaszar: The Man Behind the Live! Casino

Bringing more than three decades of experience to the table, John Chaszar is no stranger to the gaming industry. Some of his prestigious previous roles include being vice president and general manager of the former Hollywood Casino in Baton Rouge, and most recently, the Tropicana Casino in Evansville, Indiana – which successfully transitioned from a floating to a land-based casino under Chaszar’s leadership.

In his new stint as executive vice president and general manager of the Live! Casino, he will be in charge of the development, grand opening, and operations.

Boosting the Shreveport-Bossier Gambling Market

According to Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns, this new investment is expected to reverse the two-decade decline in the Shreveport-Bossier gambling market and trigger growth in the area. He was confident in stating that this development would add a fresh new taste to the local market, turning it into a premier destination that would draw in both conventions and tourists from beyond Louisiana’s borders.

Bossier City Mayor, Tommy Chandler, further drove the point home, labeling the project as “the largest venture that has happened in our area in a long time.”

A New Live! Casino: What to Expect

The new Live! Casino will not only be an exceptional resort destination but also a hub of exquisite dining experiences. Anticipated to be part of the attraction is a Sports & Social sports bar and restaurant curated by James Beard Award nominee Chef John Suley, a vibrant PBR Cowboy Bar, Luk Fu – a restaurant serving the traditional flavors of Southeast Asia, and an exquisite, yet-to-be-named, fine dining steakhouse.

Aside from boosting local tourism and revenues, the Live! Casino project is also a job creation opportunity. The initiative is expected to create 750 permanent positions in the gaming and hospitality industry area with its annual payroll exceeding $30 million. In addition, it will create 750 construction jobs.

A Promising Future Awaits

With an expert like John J. Chaszar leading the project, the Live! Casino is set to change the landscape of the Bossier City. The fusion of unique establishments, job opportunities, and growth potential makes the Live! Casino an exciting development for both industry leaders and the community.
