Orlandeaux’s Café celebrates Juneteenth with live entertainment, food, and more
SHREVEPORT, La. – Orlandeaux’s Cross Lake Café hosted a Juneteenth celebration on Wednesday, June 19. The event, organized by Damien Chapman, the fifth-generation owner of Orlandeaux’s Café, brought together the community for an evening of live entertainment, delicious food, and vibrant cultural celebration.
A Community Staple
Chapman, who views Orlandeaux’s café as a vital part of the community, emphasized the importance of celebrating Juneteenth as a way to honor the culture and history of the Black community. He expressed his joy in providing a space for people to gather, celebrate, and immerse themselves in the spirit of the occasion.
Special Occasion for Guests
For Catina Perry and her husband from Mansfield, the Juneteenth celebration at Orlandeaux’s Café held a special significance. They chose to mark the holiday at a historical and Black-owned establishment that they frequent regularly. The event provided them with an opportunity to enjoy great food and music while honoring the legacy of Juneteenth.
A Festive Evening
The festivities kicked off at 5 p.m. and continued until 8 p.m., with a lineup that included live entertainment, music, poetry, games, and a delectable spread of food and drinks. Attendees were treated to a vibrant and lively atmosphere, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and cultural pride.
