Jury Selection Commences in Case of Accused in Murder of Young Child

The city of Shreveport, Louisiana is caught in the throes of a major legal storm as trial begins for a man implicated in the tragic death of 13-year-old, Landry Anglin.

Trial Begins for One of the Three Suspects

On June 10th, one of the three alleged perpetrators, Kenmiccael Dano Ray, appeared in court. This 25-year-old Shreveport resident stands charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a firearm.

Tragic Circumstances Leading to Trial

Landry Anglin, still in her early teens, was in the sanctuary of her grandparents’ living room located on Fairfield Avenue in Shreveport when fate intervened. A bullet that reportedly came through the wall struck her. She succumbed to her injuries later in a hospital.

Jury Selection Details

Jury selection for Ray’s trial began post-lunch at 1 p.m. The potential jurors faced a battery of inquiries. The questions revolved around their personal or their family’s experiences with the criminal justice system. This included whether they were victims of a crime or if they had been through the criminal justice system for any reason.

The prosecution for this case is spearheaded by Ron Stamps, Christopher Bowman, and Britney Green. However, the prosecution team, according to Green, will not be commenting on the case at this time. Representing the defense case for Ray is Leslie Kelly.

Details of Other Suspects

Two more suspects have been identified and charged in connection with this tragic episode. Gavontay Carnelious Johnson , 30, has been charged with illegal use of a firearm. The third suspect, Keara Russell, 23, faces charges of careless operation and failure to report certain felonies. Efforts are on to learn the trial dates allocated to Johnson and Russell.

The Reverberations of A Heinous Crime

The entire city is in shock due to the nature of the crime and the tender age of the victim. Criminal proceedings such as these not only serve to bring justice to the deceased but also act as a deterrent for potential criminal elements in the society. With the commencement of the jury selection, the community looks forward to securing justice for young Landry Anglin.
