Commuters Alert: Lane Closure on LA 3 (Benton Rd) Begins March 6

Bossier City, Louisiana – February 28, 2024

Commuters traveling along LA 3 (Benton Road) in Bossier Parish should prepare for a lane closure set to commence on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that starting at 7:00 a.m., the southbound outside (right) lane of LA 3 (Benton Road) will be closed from Melrose Avenue to Citizens Bank Drive. This lane closure is anticipated to last for approximately four weeks.

Construction for Walter O. Bigby Carriageway Project

The closure is imperative to facilitate the ongoing construction work associated with the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway project, managed by the City of Bossier City. The project aims to construct a new roadway that will connect with Benton Road. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the construction area and remain vigilant for work crews and equipment. Pedestrians and cyclists are urged to exercise caution when traveling near active construction zones.

Stay Informed and Drive Safely

Weather permitting, the construction activities are scheduled to proceed as planned. For additional information or updates on road closures, commuters can call 511, visit www.511la.org, or download the Louisiana 511 mobile app. Out-of-state travelers can reach the DOTD hotline at 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Updates can also be found on the DOTD website and social media channels. The DOTD appreciates the cooperation and patience of commuters during this construction period.
