A Life Well-Lived
Born on July 23, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Shelby spent much of his early life in Oklahoma City. His academic journey culminated at Classen High School, from which he graduated in 1950. Shelby moved on to attend the prestigious Southern Methodist University (SMU), graduating in 1954 from the SMU Cox School of Business as part of its first-ever real estate class.
A Family Man
Shelby found the love of his life in Adelaide Harrison Smith, and together they built a solid family foundation that included their beloved children and grandchildren. Shelby dedicated himself to his family businesses, playing an instrumental role in the Harrison Company and the C.W. Lane Company. As the longtime Chairman of the C.W. Lane Company, he excelled in a multitude of business ventures ranging from insurance and real estate development to hotel management and nursing homes. His charitable work did not stop there; he also served as the former Chairman of the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana and co-chaired the local branch of the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
A Man of Many Interests
