Levi Thibodaux Shines at Toyota Series Championship

Shreveport, La. – LSU Shreveport angler Levi Thibodaux has made headlines after clinching $22,000 in prize money by finishing in 8th place at the prestigious Toyota Series Championship held on Wheeler Lake in Huntsville, Alabama. The event took place from November 7th to November 9th and featured a tough competition among nearly 200 anglers, predominantly seasoned professionals.

A Grueling Three-Day Event

The championship showcased Thibodaux’s skills against a field of experienced competitors, marking a significant accolade in his fishing career. He expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “Achieving such a strong finish against 200 professionals means so much to me and serves as a huge confidence boost.” Thibodaux had been preparing intensively for months leading up to this event, and the outcome affirmed his efforts.

Financial and Career Implications

The success at the championship is more than just a financial reward; it provides him with the necessary backing to pursue his dreams of fishing professionally while continuing his education at LSUS. “It not only validated all the hard work but also gives me the financial stability to comfortably fish the tour next season,” he said.

Future Plans

Thibodaux’s strong performance throughout the season earned him an invitation to compete in the Tackle Warehouse Invitationals, often likened to the minor leagues in baseball. He plans to accept this opportunity by participating in the six-event tour next season, all while balancing his collegiate studies and fishing commitments.

Support from LSUS

The accomplishment has drawn positive attention to the LSU Shreveport fishing program. Charles Thompson, the fishing coach at LSUS, remarked on the significance of Thibodaux’s finish, stating, “What this type of a finish means for him and this program is endless.” He noted that Thibodaux represents a strong college program on a national stage, illustrating the caliber of talent being developed at LSUS.

Looking Ahead

Thibodaux still has at least one more season of eligibility in collegiate fishing. He is set to return for the Pilots when the fishing season resumes in January, ready to build on his recent success.

This achievement underscores not only Thibodaux’s dedication and skill but also shines a light on the potential pathways available for student-athletes in collegiate fishing programs.
