Shreveport Celebrates LSU Shreveport’s Summer Graduation with Record Number of Degrees Conferred

Shreveport Welcomes Graduates for a Grand Celebration

This week, Shreveport-Bossier is buzzing with excitement as students from all over the country prepare for an unforgettable celebration: the LSU Shreveport summer graduation ceremonies. It’s a momentous occasion, and this year, the university is set to confer a staggering 1,238 college degrees and two certifications during the summer commencement exercises held at the Brookshire Grocery Arena.

A Focus on Master’s Degrees

Among the many graduates, you’ll find a significant representation of master’s degrees. In fact, out of the total degrees being handed out, 1,192 of them are master’s degrees! This highlights the university’s commitment to providing robust, year-round online graduate programs that cater to the needs of modern students. Only forty-two students earned bachelor’s degrees, and two will proudly receive their doctoral degree in leadership studies.

The programs that attracted the most graduates include the Master of Business Administration with a remarkable 795 graduates, followed closely by the Master of Health Administration with 180 graduates, and the Master of Education boasting 163 graduates. Each one of these students has put in hard work and dedication, and the upcoming ceremonies are their well-deserved reward!

No Tickets, No Worries

One of the best parts of the graduation event is that no tickets are required for attendance. This means graduates have the freedom to invite as many family members and friends as they wish to cheer them on in the 14,000-seat arena. And the cherry on top? Parking is free! How great is that?

Visitors planning to attend should note that ceremonies are set to begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so mark your calendars! For those needing special assistance, the ADA entrance is conveniently located on the building’s north side, complete with a wheelchair-accessible ramp. Parking lot A will be reserving spots specifically for handicapped guests, ensuring everyone has access to this special day.

Where Are the Graduates From?

The impressive number of graduates represents diverse backgrounds, hailing from a whopping 48 states and territories and even 21 countries across the globe! Leading the charge is Louisiana with 321 graduates, but the list doesn’t stop there. Texas follows with 147, Florida with 106, California with 81, and Georgia with 47 graduates.

Besides the homegrown talent, thirty-eight of the graduates come from outside the U.S. Various countries like India (\8 graduates), Nigeria (\5), Canada (\4), and Jamaica (\3) are making their mark, showcasing international representation and the profound reach of LSU Shreveport.

Don’t Miss Out!

If you can’t make it in person, don’t be discouraged! The ceremony will also be livestreamed through the LSUS YouTube channel, ensuring that friends and family near and far can join in on the celebrations. This amazing opportunity allows everyone to witness the joy and pride as graduates cross the stage, diploma in hand.

As Shreveport gears up for this grand celebration, it’s a wonderful reminder of achievement, perseverance, and community spirit. With so many hearts filled with pride and excitement, the summer commencement ceremonies promise to be a day to remember!
