LSU Tigers celebrate a home run during their victory over UNO Privateers.
In a commanding performance, the LSU Tigers secured an 11-1 victory over the University of New Orleans Privateers at Alex Box Stadium. This win marks their 16th straight victory and improves their season record to 21-1. The game built excitement through stunning home runs and strong pitching after an early stumble. As LSU prepares for a challenging matchup against the Texas Longhorns, fans are thrilled about the team’s prospects this season.
In a dazzling display of baseball, the LSU Tigers hosted the University of New Orleans Privateers on a balmy Tuesday evening at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Tigers continued their thrilling march towards greatness with a resounding win, defeating the Privateers 11-1 and extending their winning streak to an impressive 16 games.
The atmosphere was electric as Tiger fans gathered to support their team, and things got off to a rocky start for Jaden Noot, who made his first career start on the mound for LSU. He walked the leadoff batter and quickly fell into trouble, giving up back-to-back singles that allowed UNO to put the first run on the board. But, instead of spiraling downwards, Noot regrouped and found his rhythm, striking out three consecutive Privateers to end the inning strong.
Just when fans were wondering about the Tigers’ chances, Jared Jones stepped up in the bottom of the first with a phenomenal solo home run that soared approximately 450 feet, leveling the game at 1-1 and igniting the crowd.
As if a switch had been flipped, the LSU Tigers went into high gear. They showcased their formidable ability to draw walks and maintain discipline at the plate—something they’ve done exceptionally well this season, accumulating a total of 172 walks and being hit by pitches through the first 21 games. The second inning saw a fantastic build-up as Tanner Reaves walked, followed by a single from Chris Stanfield. Soon after, Daniel Dickinson loaded the bases with yet another walk. Josh Pearson capitalized on this moment and was patient enough to draw a bases-loaded walk, bringing Reaves home and putting LSU ahead, 2-1.
The third inning turned into a scoring showcase for the Tigers, who managed to rack up four runs. Cade Arrambide hit his second career home run, solidifying LSU’s lead at 4-1. With additional contributions from Reaves and Jones, the Tigers quickly built up a 6-1 advantage by the end of the third inning.
Although LSU experienced a quiet fourth inning, they quickly regained their momentum in the fifth. Ethan Frey, pinch-hitting in this segment, delivered a jaw-dropping three-run home run that further extended LSU’s lead to 9-1, leaving the Privateers scrambling.
As the game continued into the sixth inning, the LSU slugfest rolled on. Derek Curiel hit a double, and Jared Jones followed suit with another double that sent Curiel home, pushing the score to 10-1. The Privateers were unable to respond, and LSU’s pitchers kept them at bay, leading to a dramatic walk-off opportunity for Frey.
Frey didn’t disappoint, launching a home run over the left-field wall and wrapping up the game with a run-rule victory. Noot shined on the mound, pitching 4.0 innings while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out five batters. In relief, Jacob Mayers and Cooper Williams combined to deliver 3.0 scoreless innings from the bullpen, sealing the fate for UNO.
With this victory, the Tigers improved their season record to a dazzling 21-1, firmly ranking them No. 2 in all major polls. LSU’s upcoming challenge will be a formidable match against a top-10 Texas Longhorns team in Austin this weekend. UNO, on the other hand, experienced a setback, falling to a record of 11-8.
As the Tigers continue their quest for glory, Coach Jay Johnson and the team can take great pride in their consistency and performance, marking the sixth win this season by the 10-run rule. Tiger fans can hardly wait to see what these amazing athletes will achieve next!
