Shreveport, La. – The excitement is building as the Louisiana Travel Association summit kicks off today, August 27, in Shreveport. This annual event will provide a platform for tourism professionals across the state to come together, share ideas, and promote Louisiana as a premier travel destination.
Taking the stage for the keynote address is Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, who is eager to highlight the importance of teamwork within Louisiana’s tourism industry. In a recent conversation, Nungesser emphasized that this year’s address will differ from previous years. “Rather than me stand up there and brag and take credit for a lot of stuff, this year is going to be a little different. It’s going to be all about the people, the team that makes tourism work in Louisiana,” he stated.
The summit began with an opening reception last night at the Sci-Port Discovery Center, and the official sessions continue with a breakfast featuring Lt. Gov. Nungesser at the Shreveport Convention Center tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. This breakfast will include not only remarks from Nungesser but also updates from his department heads, showcasing the collaboration among various partners in the tourism sector.
During his tenure, Nungesser made a commitment to ensure that northern Louisiana receives its fair share of attention and support. He reiterated, “When I got elected, I gave north Louisiana my word the area would not be left out again as long as I’m in the position.” This reassurance aims to bolster confidence among local stakeholders about the future development of tourism in their region.
As the summit unfolds, attendees are looking forward to engaging discussions and networking opportunities, which are essential in strengthening the foundation of Louisiana’s tourism industry.
