Celebrating Unity and Fellowship in Bossier City

Bossier City, La. – On Thursday morning, the Bossier Civic Center was the place to be as the mayors of Shreveport and Bossier City joined forces for the much-anticipated annual prayer breakfast. This yearly event serves as a wonderful opportunity for community members to come together, reflect, and reaffirm their commitment to each other.

Mayors Unite for a Good Cause

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler stood side by side, showcasing a powerful coalition between the two cities. The energy in the room was palpable as attendees mingled and shared their thoughts on what it means to live in this vibrant part of Louisiana. Mayor Arceneaux expressed his appreciation for Bossier City, while Mayor Chandler highlighted the importance of collaboration and unity within the community.

An Inspiring Guest Speaker

This year, the breakfast welcomed Centenary College head football coach Byron Dawson as the keynote speaker. Coach Dawson captivated the audience with his stories and motivational insights, focusing on teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of nurturing the talent within our community. His engaging style resonated with those present, creating an atmosphere of bonding and inspiration. “We can achieve more when we work together,” Dawson passionately emphasized, striking a chord with everyone in attendance.

A Special Return: U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson

The event was made even more special with the presence of U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, a proud native of the Shreveport-Bossier area. Johnson’s speech radiated warmth and gratitude as he reflected on the significance of home and community. In his engaging and charismatic manner, he expressed, “I love these two mayors, and I love their beautiful brides. I love this city. I’m so glad to be home. I was just telling the mayor, Tommy, that in this room are some of my favorite people in the world.”

A Busy Time for Speaker Johnson

It’s been an exciting few weeks for Speaker Johnson. Just two weeks prior, he took the time to engage in early voting right in Bossier Parish, which demonstrates his commitment to civic duty. Following that, he hosted a campaign party to celebrate his recent victory on November 5 in Shreveport. Shortly after, he flew down to Florida to be in the company of President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

A Day Filled with Fellowship

The annual prayer breakfast was more than just a gathering; it was a reminder of the bonds that tie this community together. People from all walks of life came together to celebrate achievements, support one another, and look forward to the future. Various local leaders, citizens, and families came together, reinforcing that Bossier City and Shreveport are stronger together.

Looking Ahead

The spirit of unity and fellowship shone brightly throughout the morning. As the mayors and Speaker Johnson closed the event with words of hope and encouragement, attendees left with a sense of pride and renewed energy for what’s ahead. It’s moments like these that remind us that community matters, and together, we can make a difference.

In the heart of Bossier City, the message was clear: no matter the challenges that lie ahead, the community will stand strong, united and ready to face them together.
