The city of Bossier, Louisiana, is no exception to this rule. “Historically, it’s always been a fruitful weekend for us as school concludes and individuals gear up for the summer season,” proclaims local car dealer Tommy Harvey, owner of Harvey Autos.

The industry is bouncing back after a severe chip shortage crisis earlier that resulted in halting manufacturing.

“We’ve finally got a significant number of chips in stock; that was the major hindrance and had decimated our inventories to practically nil,” Harvey said. “We’ve rectified a lot of the issues in the manufacturing process,” Harvey added. “Having more stock will enable us to recoup our volume margin from what it used to be years back. It’s a gradual process, but we’re on the right path.”

According to the data from Cox Automotive, inventory levels are up by a staggering 50 percent from last year. Cox Automotive assesses that the auto industry is on the path to its best year since 2019.
