Car driving near lit fairgrounds
Shreveport, Louisiana witnessed an unexpected act of gun violence around the Louisiana State Fairgrounds on the evening of April 19. An unsuspecting group of friends were driving in the 3400 block of Pershing Boulevard when they were subject to unwarranted gunfire.
In a shocking encounter, a woman driving with her two friends near the fairgrounds, found herself under direct threat when a Maroon Ford Explorer came to a sudden halt near their vehicle. Two individuals, whose identities remain unknown, disembarked from the vehicle and began shooting at them. The victim informed that they hail from Minden, Louisiana, and they were unfamiliar with their attackers.
Apart from the physical threat, the shock of the situation must have been overwhelming. Nevertheless, the lady who was driving showcased exceptional composure. Despite being the victim of the shooting, she managed to drive and get herself admitted to a local hospital. Her condition at the hospital is stable and the injuries sustained are thankfully not life-threatening.
The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) swung into action swiftly. At 7:03 pm, responding to the hospital’s alert about a shooting victim’s admission, the SPD officers arrived at the hospital. Upon learning about the location and nature of the incident, they immediately rushed to the scene. The area around Pershing Boulevard was cordoned off for investigations.
The case is now under intense investigation with the SPD working hard to ascertain the motive behind this apparently random act of violence and to identify the perpetrators. The eyewitnesses and local communities have been urged to provide any information that they may have regarding the incident or the current whereabouts of the maroon Ford Explorer.
Until now, cases of such outright and uncalled for gun violence were not so common in this peaceful city of Louisiana. This incident is therefore causing quite a shock to the residents of Shreveport and especially to those who frequently visit or are situated near the State Fairgrounds.
The identification and apprehension of the culprits is of paramount urgency. Not only for the victims of the incident but also to restore the faith and peace of the community in our tireless law enforcement entities. As we await further updates on this case, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this horrifying incident.
