Exciting Additions to the Local Scene
Today in Shreveport, two new businesses officially opened their doors, bringing fresh culinary and community options to the heart of the city. Ono’s Hawaiian Grill and Cooper’s Corner celebrated their grand opening with lively ribbon cutting ceremonies held on Texas Street.
Ono’s Hawaiian Grill: A Taste of the Islands
Owner Sione Maumalanga expressed his heartfelt emotions during the event, saying, “I could cry right now, but I’m gonna hold it in.” After years of running a food truck, he is thrilled to have secured a location in downtown Shreveport and is committed to providing authentic Hawaiian cuisine, noting, “With 50 bringing production into town and just with the overall support of the community, we could not ask for anything better.”
Community Support Shines
As a gesture of appreciation, Ono’s Hawaiian Grill offered a special menu item for the grand opening, featuring their enticing “Kahuku garlic shrimp.” The restaurant will serve lunch from 11 AM to 3 PM and dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM at their new location inside Art Space.
Cooper’s Corner: Revitalizing a Historic Space
Alongside Ono’s, Cooper’s Corner is housed in a beautifully rehabilitated historic office building. This establishment not only contributes to the local economy but also enhances the historical landscape of downtown Shreveport.
City Leaders Join the Celebration
Local officials joined in the excitement, with Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux praising Ono’s Hawaiian Grill. He remarked, “I have already eaten at Ono’s, and I can tell you the food is fantastic.” The mayor expressed his enthusiasm for making this new location a regular lunch spot.
Community Gathering
The ribbon cutting ceremonies attracted dozens of attendees who gathered to celebrate these new additions to the downtown area. Sione Maumalanga reflected on his journey, acknowledging how “it was 8 years of running a food truck and learning, then meeting the right mentors along the way.” His dream comes alive in a vibrant space that promises to nourish both the body and the spirit of the community.
The Future Looks Bright
As these new businesses set up shop, the downtown Shreveport area is witnessing an invigorating transformation. Residents and visitors alike can look forward to enjoying a taste of Hawaii and the revitalized charm of Cooper’s Corner.
