In a surprising announcement from the heart of Shreveport, local favorite, Pop N Pizza, has decided to temporarily close its doors. On August 24th, owner Brittani Shabazz took to Facebook Live to share the news, explaining that they were facing some challenges that necessitated this decision.
“We have temporarily closed Pop N Pizza,” Shabazz said. “It had just gotten to a point where we didn’t have a choice. We got a little behind on some things, and it was one of those things we didn’t have a choice.” However, she assured fans that it’s not all doom and gloom.
Shabazz offered an optimistic take on the situation, stating, “Y’all don’t cry for us because we are alright. God just showed me this is what we are supposed to be doing.” This closure, she explained, will provide them with the opportunity to regroup and plan for the future of Pop N Pizza.
During this closure, Shabazz has plans to host a pop-up shop right at the restaurant location. “I love our pizza,” she expressed, “but just imagine how good it will be when we open back up.” The time off will also allow the team to experiment with new recipes, bringing exciting changes for their loyal customers.
Having served the Shreveport community for five years, Pop N Pizza originally started on Kings Highway before relocating to its current downtown spot at the corner of Texas Street and Marshall Street in 2022. Shabazz reflects on their journey, stating, “We’ve done this for five years. We are coming back!”
As the downtown area continues to flourish, many local businesses are rallying around Pop N Pizza during this time. The strong community ties and support for local eateries like Pop N Pizza highlight the vibrant culture of Shreveport.
As Shreveport waits for the return of their beloved pizza joint, fans and foodies alike are excited to see what is in store for Pop N Pizza’s future.
