The vibrant city of Shreveport is all set to host an amazing weeklong celebration known as Prize Fest, which kicks off on October 16. This year’s festival promises to be a thrilling mix of food, film, comedy, and music, bringing together people from all corners to enjoy a fabulous array of activities.
According to the organizers, the festival marks a return to a weeklong format, which enhances the energy and engagement of the event. City officials expect large crowds as festivalgoers flock to downtown Shreveport for five consecutive days of unique experiences.
The festivities begin with the Food Prize on October 16, featuring the popular event Come and Get It. Attendees will get to savor dishes crafted by local Golden Fork finalist chefs teaming up with visiting celebrity chefs. Adding to the excitement is the Golden Shaker cocktail competition, where local mixologists will vie for the title of best cocktail. Guests will also vote for their favorite dish and cocktail throughout the night.
Next up is the Comedy Prize on October 17. This event will see a packed lineup of comedians from all over the country, with two separate shows featuring five performers each. The competition offers a cash prize while allowing comedians to showcase their talent to a panel of judges, including notable figures from major comedy shows.
The highly-anticipated Film Prize kicks off the next day, running from October 17 to 19. A total of 20 short films, all shot in Louisiana, will compete for an impressive cash prize of up to $50,000—the largest award for a short film worldwide. An open event called The Gathering on October 17 will provide a red carpet experience complete with interviews and networking opportunities for filmmakers.
Finally, the Music Prize will wrap up the festival, taking place from October 18 to 19. Eleven talented musical finalists are set to compete for a grand prize of $10,000. The MPCon, or Music Prize Conference, will also occur during these two nights, featuring workshops and panels for aspiring musicians to enhance their careers.
