Shreveport, La. — There’s a magical place where pumpkins abound, and it’s making all our fall dreams come true. The “Pumpkin Patch at Provenance” is back, and it’s putting the heart in Halloween for families around the area. If you haven’t checked it out yet, there’s still time! Open now until October 31st, this annual event by the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is brimming with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, creating a perfect backdrop for cozy fall photos.
The pumpkin patch is just that—there are pumpkins galore! You can find everything from the gigantic gourds that look perfect for carving, to tiny orange treasures that would make adorable decorations. Best of all, admission is free, so it’s a fantastic outing for parents and kids alike. Grab your camera and get ready for that perfect autumn Instagram shot!
The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier not only organizes this delightful event but also puts its heart and soul into it. With the help of various sponsors, they’ve transformed a beautiful lakeside area into a pumpkin-filled oasis. Maddie Menefee, the co-chairwoman of the Pumpkin Patch project, explained that planning for this event typically begins nearly a year in advance to ensure they have enough pumpkins and a secure site ready for visitors.
Each pumpkin sale supports projects that truly make a difference in the community, including the much-loved mentoring program “Magic” and the red apron food pantry. So, while you pick your favorite pumpkin, you can feel good knowing your purchase is helping local initiatives thrive.
Part of what makes the Pumpkin Patch so fantastic are the numerous activities and events lined up throughout October. Whether you’re a parent looking for a fun outing with the kids or someone wanting to create lasting memories, there’s something for everyone. From family fall festivals to cozy evenings filled with entertainment, there’s tons of food trucks on-site offering delicious snacks and meals, ensuring you won’t leave hungry!
In fact, Shelvia Grant Davis, the President-elect of the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, shared enthusiastically about the various activities happening at the patch. “It’s just a picturesque setting, and it’s a very fun and cute spot to get those lovely fall photos with your family and friends,” she said. “Plus, buying a pumpkin helps support one of our community programs.”
