Bossier City Shines with the Red River Balloon Rally at Louisiana Downs

A Weekend of Colorful Delight

Bossier City, Louisiana, lit up the sky and hearts of festival-goers with the CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally at the Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino. The event, hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, took place on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, bringing a spectacle of hot air balloons to the scenic racetrack field.

A Kaleidoscope of Entertainment

The eighth edition of the Red River Balloon Rally was a feast for the senses, offering a lineup of activities and performances to keep attendees entertained throughout the weekend. On Friday evening, guests were treated to live music from Hidden Tracks and Dirt Road Troubadours, setting the perfect ambiance for the festival vibes. Saturday carried on the momentum with performances by Total Choice and The Hollow, ensuring there was never a dull moment.

Thrills in the Sky and on the Ground

One of the highlights of the event was the breathtaking balloon glows that illuminated the night sky, creating a mesmerizing display for all to enjoy. For those seeking a more hands-on experience, tethered balloon rides allowed guests to soar above the event grounds and take in the scenic views from up high.

In addition to the awe-inspiring balloon activities, the AEP SWEPCO Kids Zone offered young visitors a place to play and explore, adding a family-friendly element to the festival. Craft vendors from the Bossier City Farmers Market lined the event grounds, showcasing an array of unique creations for attendees to peruse and purchase.

Fireworks and Festivities

The excitement reached its peak with a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by Team Logic IT and Stuart’s Integrated Systems, lighting up the night sky in a symphony of colors and patterns. The grand finale was a fitting end to a weekend filled with magic and wonder, leaving attendees with memories to cherish.

Gratitude and Looking Ahead

The organizers of the Red River Balloon Rally expressed their gratitude to all who attended the event, both locals and visitors who made the journey to Bossier City. A post on the CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally Facebook page captured the sentiment, saying, “What an amazing year for the Red River Balloon Rally at Louisiana Downs. We are so grateful to all who traveled to Shreveport-Bossier and for our wonderful community for attending and making this event so special.”

As the lights dimmed and the balloons slowly descended, the post continued with a promise for the future, stating, “We’ll see y’all next year!” With anticipation already building for the next edition of the Red River Balloon Rally, attendees can look forward to another weekend of enchantment and excitement.
