High Water Causes Road Closures in Caddo

Two Roads in Caddo Closed Due to High Water

Shreveport, LA – Officials in Caddo Parish have taken action in response to the increased water levels, and as a safety precaution, have declared two strategic roadways closed. Keithville-Kingston Road and Wallace Lake Road at Milton James Cameron Park are no longer open for public use until further notice.

A decision taken in the best interests of motorists in the area, the Caddo Parish officials are urging the public to heed these cautions and avoid these roads at all costs.

Motorist Alert: Respect the Barricades

Amidst the road closure, the officials are also communicating the potential legal implications of violating these cautions. Motorists are reminded that, as long as barricades are present, the road is closed to traffic. Lingering waters and unsafe road conditions force authorities to enact these measures to protect lives and property.

According to the officials, it is crucial to remember that ignoring or driving beyond these barricades is against the law. The road will not reopen until the barricades are removed, implying that the situation is safe for motorists once again.

High Water: A Cause for Concern

Rising water levels in the area have caused havoc over recent days, threatening local infrastructure and causing widespread inconvenience for motorists. Apart from the immediate risk of hydroplaning and other water-related accidents, the long-term damage to the roads is also a significant concern.

Those who would normally use these routes are advised to plan alternate commuting plans. Given the unpredictability of weather conditions and water levels, there is no guaranteed timeline for when the roads might be reopened.

Avoiding Flooded Areas: Safety First

In addition to adhering to road closures, local residents and motorists are being urged to exercise caution when travelling and avoid flooded areas whenever possible. High water levels may not only damage vehicles but also pose a significant risk to the lives of motorists and passengers.

Loading Vehicles in high water can also lead to disastrous outcomes. Floodwater can enter the engine, exhaust, and other critical areas of a vehicle, leading to significant damage and possible engine failure.

Continuous Updates and Weather Monitoring

As the situation continues to evolve, officials are closely monitoring the water levels and weather forecasts. They stand committed to reopening the affected roads as soon as the water levels subside and safety checks are completed.

As residents wait for updates, everyone is asked to stay vigilant, respect roadblocks and closures, and prioritize their safety over their itinerary. The message is clear: no journey is more important than life itself.
