Bossier City Business Address Utilized in Shipping Scam; Investigation Initiated by U.S. Postal Service

Shipping Scammers Exploit Bossier City Business Address; U.S. Postal Service Launches Investigation

Bossier City, LA — In a troubling turn of events, residents are reporting being targeted by a **shipping scam** that utilizes the business address of Beacon Roofing Supply in Bossier City. The scam, known as the **PNP Shipping scam**, tricks individuals into participating in a package re-shipping scheme involving stolen goods.

How the Scam Works

The scammers entice unsuspecting victims to use their own funds to forward stolen items all across the country. Victims have reported significant losses—some totaling thousands of dollars. The scheme promotes itself as a legitimate job opportunity, luring people in with promises of lucrative pay. One victim, Albert Poindexter from Tennessee, shared his experience of being offered a position that guaranteed impressive income, boasting an initial payment of **$2,500** and weekly earnings of **$4,800** thereafter.

A Sense of Unease

As Poindexter began to receive packages containing various electronics and clothing for re-shipping, he soon realized something was amiss. He noted, “After making some calls, I found that all the numbers led back to the same source. The address linked to my job was not associated with any legitimate business.” Suspicion grew as he discovered counterfeit documents bearing the Louisiana state seal.

Victim Count and Ongoing Investigations

This particular scam has been ongoing since at least **2022** and has affected **42 victims** across multiple states. Jo Ann Deal from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) stated, “We have issued an alert regarding PNP Shipping. It’s essential for people to be aware that the address used is not legitimate.”

Prior Scams and Identity

Further investigation revealed that the same group of scammers previously operated under names like **Peel and Patch** and **Sical Logistics**. When approached for comment, a representative from Beacon Roofing Supply confirmed that they have no association with the scammers and had not received any police reports concerning the fraudulent activities tied to their address.

USPS Steps In

The **United States Postal Service** now deems this case as **employment fraud** and is actively investigating the matter. To prevent becoming a victim of such scams, USPS and BBB offer several preventive measures. **William Kuhn**, a USPS inspector, advised potential workers to exercise caution when accepting work-from-home positions.

Advice for the Public

  • Always verify the company’s name by searching online and looking for feedback on platforms like the BBB.
  • Be wary of job offers that seem too good to be true.
  • Consult resources from the Louisiana Attorney General’s office or the Consumer Protection Agency if you suspect fraud.

Lessons Learned

Reflecting on his experience, Poindexter advises others to be careful with personal information. “I was just too excited about the opportunity. I lost about **$1,500** and learned a hard lesson,” he stated.

As the investigation unfolds, residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
