Shreveport Walmart Turns into Scene of Violence as Man Survives Shocking Gunshot and Stabbing Attack

Man Survives Unprovoked Attack in Shreveport Walmart: Gunshot and Stabbing Incident

An Unexpected Turn of Events in Shreveport Walmart

SHREVEPORT, LA — A seemingly ordinary grocery-run took a horrifying turn on the evening of Friday, June 14, 2024, at a local Walmart in Shreveport city. What was expected to be a quick errand quickly escalated into a violent incident involving a gunshot, stabbing, and an alarming display of human indifference.

The Surprise Attack

Lonnie Blansit had come to the Walmart at Shreve City to shop for some items. Unbeknownst to him, his trip was about to transform into a nightmare. According to his exclusive recount, he was attacked out of the blue by an individual he had never seen before while he was shopping for green beans.

The Struggle for Survival

“I hadn’t seen him in the parking lot; there was no altercation,” Blansit recounted. Fearing for his life, he reached for his gun. Struggling with the attacker, a gunshot was let out as both men wrestled for possession of the firearm. “At that point, I still couldn’t get him off of me,” he continued, his voice shaking with the memory of the incident.

An Indifferent Audience

Adding to his horror, the customers witnessing the struggle did little more than capturing the terrifying incident on their cellphones, offering no assistance to Blansit as he grappled with his attacker. His desperate calls for help echoed through the aisles, falling on deaf ears. “I was yelling for help; all the customers were just standing there, videoing,” Blansit lamented.

One Victim, One Suspect, Unexpected Outcomes

After the gun jammed, Blansit managed to free himself from the attacker by stabbing the man, who subsequently fell to the ground and fled the scene. Eyewitnesses, including Ray Koch Jr., confirmed the sequence of events and expressed their shock and fear at the unexpected violence. Shreveport police have since identified Davante Palmer as the attacker and charged him with simple battery.

Palmer: A Familiar Face

Davante Palmer, according to Blansit, seemed to be a local who frequently sold water bottles in the vicinity. His motive for the unprovoked attack remains unknown, adding to the disturbing mystery of the case. “I don’t know if he’s homeless or what. All I know is that he sells water bottles on the corner,” Blansit added, still shaken from the incident.

Lessons from an Unfortunate Event

This shocking incident serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictable nature of public violence, highlighting the need for vigilance and active bystander intervention in such situations. As investigations continue, the Shreveport community and those beyond hope for the full recovery of Blansit and urgent justice for this disturbing act of aggression.
