Shreveport Acting Studio Suspends Operations Following Leasing of Millennium Studios

Shreveport- A renowned acting studio is shutting down after an eight-year stint of developing the acting prowess of aspirants in northwest Louisiana. The Northwood Acting Studio, located within Millennium Studios, announced on June 20th its suspension of operations.

Aspiring Actors Lose a Bastion of Learning

Owner and actor Garrett Kruithof delivered the disheartening news through an emotional video on Facebook stating, “I am announcing the suspension of operations at Northwood Acting Studio.”

Since its inception in May 2016, Northwood has been steadfast in its mission to nurture and develop local and regional talent. It provided an effective platform through which aspiring actors could hone their skills for the real world.

Millennium Studios Leased by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson

The premises of Millennium Studios, that housed Northwood Acting Studio, will now serve a new purpose. In April 2024, famous rapper and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson leased Millennium from Shreveport city for 30 years on a yearly rate of $2,400.

Impact on the city’s Economy

The leasing agreement, praised by Mayor Tom Arceneaux, is expected to save the city nearly $180,000 annually in costs. In the long run, the Mayor sees potential for job creation and overall economic growth.

As a result of this change, the operations at Millennium Studios, including Northwood Acting Studio, must be suspended. Kruithof gratefully acknowledged Jackson and his team, and particularly Orville Hall, for allowing Northwood to operate for as long as possible under the new leasing agreement.

Bidding Farewell to A Place of Aspirations

The impending suspension of operations is evidently emotional for Garret Kruithof who has watched many aspiring actors walk through the doors of the Northwood Acting Studio. In his final note, he expressed, “I hope to offer anyone who has ever come through my door a chance to say goodbye to the home we have shared for the last eight years before we close the doors.”

More on New Developments

Reports indicate that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Shreveport Mayor have partnered in a plan to launch G-Unit Studios, leveraging the space at Millennium Studios.
