Intermittent Traffic Lane and Ramp Closures in Shreveport Ahead of New Amazon Facility
Shreveport – Expected traffic disruptions are on the horizon as intermittent lane and ramp closures are scheduled to commence in Shreveport starting next week. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has signaled that these adjustments are part of permit work related to Amazon’s upcoming facility in the area.
Expected Disruptions
Motorists traveling through the LA 3132 and West 70th Street interchange should brace for the inconveniences which are slated to last for a period of 30 days. The Department, in its statement, however, assures that access to West 70th Street from LA 3132 will be maintained throughout the construction period.
Amazon’s New Facility Spearheads Changes
The anticipated traffic interruptions are a result of Amazon’s initiative to enhance the infrastructure near its upcoming facility. The facility, which is to be strategically situated at the West 70th Street and Buncombe Road intersection, presents an opportunity for improvements to local traffic. To this end, Amazon’s contractor will undertake alterations to the turn lanes at the location, as stipulated by permit requirements.
Impact on Local Traffic
The work is projected to facilitate improved traffic flow in the area. With the modifications come intermittent lane and ramp closures which may present temporary inconveniences to road users. However, DOTD has urged the public to exercise patience, owing to the long-term benefits the changes will bring.
Caution Call
In the wake of the incoming construction activity, DOTD is issuing advisories to motorists to exercise caution when traversing the construction site. Motorists are urged to be vigilant for work crews and their equipment. The Department has reiterated its appreciation for the public’s understanding and patience during this period of change.
