On February 14, Shreveport, Louisiana, experienced an anhydrous ammonia leak, prompting a swift response from multiple emergency agencies. The Shreveport Fire Department, alongside other local authorities, worked tirelessly to contain the leak, employing technology like drones to assess the situation. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries, and operations were reported to be effective by 10 a.m. as authorities turned the scene over for further investigation.
This past Friday, February 14, the city of Shreveport, Louisiana experienced quite a scare as an anhydrous ammonia leak was reported at a business located in the 7000 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. The incident unfolded early in the morning, just before 7:30 a.m., prompting a swift emergency response from local authorities.
A variety of emergency response agencies jumped into action when the leak was reported. The Shreveport Fire Department (SFD), along with Caddo Fire District 3, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) quickly converged on the scene. Due to the hazardous conditions, both Woolworth Road and sections of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop were temporarily shut down to traffic. A voluntary evacuation order was even issued for the surrounding businesses as a precautionary measure, ensuring that everyone was out of harm’s way.
