Shreveport Appoints Former Mayor Cedric Glover as New Executive Director of Downtown Development Authority

Shreveport Welcomes Former Mayor Cedric Glover as New Executive Director of Downtown Development Authority

Shreveport, Louisiana, is buzzing with excitement as the city’s former mayor, Cedric Glover, has recently been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). This decision came to light during a meeting held on September 13, where the board unanimously voted to pursue an employee contract with Glover, officially confirming him as the top choice after a thorough selection process.

A Long Search with a Clear Goal

The search for a visionary leader to step into this critical role has been anything but quick. The DDA embarked on a comprehensive search process that lasted for about nine months. Initially, the board gathered 14 applicants, primarily from the local area. Yet, in a bid to find the very best candidate, they took it a step further by engaging a national search firm. This effort widened the pool to 20 highly qualified prospects who could potentially lead Shreveport’s downtown development efforts.

After conducting in-depth interviews, evaluations, and consultations with various stakeholders, it became clear that Glover was the standout candidate. His impressive application package, which included impactful letters of recommendation and engaging video and in-person interviews, was well-received by everyone involved in the hiring process.

Experience Matters

What makes Glover’s appointment particularly exciting is his vast experience in various fields essential for this role. With a background in development, governmental affairs, real estate, and public relations, Glover has been a strong advocate for both small businesses and large industries alike. This expertise is expected to prove invaluable as he takes the reins of the DDA at a time when Shreveport is on the brink of significant growth.

A Critical Time for Shreveport

Shreveport is currently experiencing a renaissance, especially in the Film & Television industry and various entertainment sectors. The DDA recognizes that the vibrancy of downtown Shreveport is vital for the overall health of the city. With Glover at the helm, the board is optimistic about building upon this momentum and continuing to develop downtown into a thriving hub for both residents and visitors.

In their statement, the DDA expressed confidence that under Glover’s leadership and with the support of the community, downtown Shreveport will not only continue to thrive but also grow stronger. The aim is to establish Shreveport as a city known nationally and internationally for being a great place to live, work, and play, all while embracing the rich culture that defines the South.

Looking Ahead

The DDA is currently in the process of finalizing an employment contract with Glover. Once that’s settled, they will discuss his official start date. This next chapter for downtown Shreveport promises to be full of collaboration, hard work, and a unified effort toward a brighter future.

As the community eagerly anticipates Glover’s arrival, the hope is that his leadership will steer the DDA towards exciting new developments and initiatives that further enhance the downtown area’s appeal and functionality. With such a dedicated leader stepping in, there’s much to look forward to for Shreveport’s downtown evolution.
