Vibrant Fall Art

Shreveport Welcomes a Vibrant Fall of Art and Culture

If you’re in Shreveport, there’s no shortage of exciting events and exhibits happening right now! Whether you are a lover of art, music, or just looking for something fun to do, this city has you covered. Let’s dive into what’s going on!

Art and Exhibits to Explore

First up, make sure you check out the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. Currently on display is the “What Matters” exhibit, featuring stunning works by Donna F. McGee and Emily Caldwell. This exhibit showcases an impressive **acrylic and mixed media collage** that integrates recycled plastic and natural materials. It’s a fantastic way to appreciate innovative art using everyday items! Admission is free, so gather your friends and family and take a field trip to see the exhibit before it closes on October 31. Want more info? Just give them a call at 318-632-2020.

For those interested in sacred architecture, LSU Shreveport’s Noel Collection is displaying an intriguing exhibit titled “Sacred Spaces: Books and Prints of Sacral Architecture from Around the World”. This exhibition runs through November 8 and offers a peek into the historical significance of various religious buildings through beautiful prints and books. Tours of the collection are by appointment, so plan accordingly!

If you’re feeling colorful, head over to SAS Gallerie to see Ellen Soffer’s “Shimmer” exhibition. Running until November 12, the collection consists of mesmerizing paintings that appear to shimmer with energy and life!

A New Perspective with “Rogue Reality”

On November 7, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will unveil “Rogue Reality – An Artificial Journey Through Intelligence”. This exhibit features abstractly captivating works by Jeremy Johnson and Hillary George, and you’re invited to the grand opening reception from 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Don’t miss out on the Bossier Arts Council’s gallery showcasing Adena Helm’s works titled “Following Breadcrumbs…” This runs through November 19, and the opening reception is on November 4 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The Meadows Museum of Art is also hosting two exhibitions until November 26. One is dedicated to local art titled “Bill Wiener’s World”, and the other highlights Shreveport architecture entitled “Celebrating Shreveport Architecture – 100 years in the Making”. Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Live Music and Entertainment

As the sun sets, the music scene heats up! Catch some live music at 2Johns Steak & Seafood, where local artists perform Tuesday through Saturday. Whether you’re dining or just enjoying the vibe, it’s the perfect atmosphere to unwind.

For a more laid-back experience, visit Horseshoe Casino’s 1931 Lounge for live music from 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, or try karaoke night on Thursdays!

Special Events Await

A little excitement awaits at Shreveport Aquarium with their pirate adventure, “Mutiny at the Aquarium”. It’s running through October 31, perfect for the little ones to enjoy some spooky fun!

If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, the Bossier City Farmers’ Market is happening every Saturday through November. Count on fresh veggies, baked goods, live music, and plenty of local vendors to brighten your weekend!

Wrap Up Your Month with Festivals

Halloween is just around the corner, and Shreveport has numerous events, including trunk-or-treats perfect for the kiddies, including various local churches hosting festivities. Plus, keep an eye out for a Thanksgiving themed market at Provenance Town Center on November 16.

This fall season marks a time of art appreciation, music revelry, and community gatherings. If you haven’t yet explored the magic of Shreveport this October, what are you waiting for? Get out there and soak in the culture!
