Shreveport Welcomes Artistic Flair to Amazon’s New Facility

In the heart of Shreveport, excitement buzzes as over 1,300 Amazon employees arrive each day at the newly opened SHV1 fulfillment center. What sets this facility apart isn’t just its innovative logistics—there’s vibrant art illuminating its walls, bringing a touch of local spirit and creativity to a bustling workplace. The stunning murals have been crafted by a talented team of local artists, including three proud LSUS graduates, showcasing the rich culture of Louisiana.

A Canvas of Louisiana’s Beauty

Let’s dive into the artistry! The murals have been designed to resonate with Shreveport’s identity and charm. Each of the artists—Victoria Pouncy, Cassidy Adams, and Bailey Harris—brought their unique vision to the project, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere with their artwork. “I’m still getting used to the fact that my artwork is in a building like that,” shares Pouncy, who graduated this past spring and describes herself as an experienced artist. “The initiative behind these murals was to produce something for the local community and represent the talent of local artists.”

A Team Effort

Pouncy’s contributions heavily featured pelicans and magnolias, which are symbolic representations of Louisiana’s state bird and flower, nestling comfortably in the backdrop of the “Shreveport With Love” mural. It was a collaborative effort, exemplifying how teamwork can elevate artistic expression. She worked closely with her fellow artist, Adams, who eagerly joined the project after noticing social media posts seeking local artists. “I helped the other artists with anything they needed and made sure everything was turned in on time,” Pouncy mentions, highlighting both her leadership and supportive role within the team.

The Importance of Collaboration

Adams, who is also slated to graduate in Spring 2024, cherishes her time working alongside Pouncy. “LSUS definitely prepared us for something like this because of the number of projects and different things we were doing in class,” she reflects on her educational journey. Their bond, nurtured through shared classes at LSUS, made the experience even more meaningful. Adams’ artwork portrays a girl writing in a notebook with the inspiring phrase “Dream Big” at the top, accompanied by flowers and an Amazon Echo speaker. “For me, I wanted the girl to be able to build her own future,” she explains, merging art with motivational themes.

Adding to the Artistic Landscape

Another LSUS graduate, Harris, added her flair to the murals by focusing on Amazon’s fresh food delivery services. Her artistic style has an anime-inspired, comic strip vibe, perfectly capturing children enjoying healthy fruits and vegetables. It’s clear that these artists are not just shaping the aesthetic of the Amazon facility; they’re making a statement about supporting local culture and arts.

Supporting Local Talent

Each artist remains actively involved in Shreveport’s art scene. Pouncy works tirelessly at the Shreve Memorial Library while preparing for her first solo art show and engaging with the Agora Borealis artist marketplace. “Everybody needs to go see local art and support local art because there are a lot of talented artists and musicians right here in Shreveport,” she urges, advocating for an inclusive appreciation of homegrown talent.

Conclusion

As Amazon sets a new standard for future facilities, the artistic infusion at the SHV1 fulfillment center stands as a testament to local talent and the importance of community representation. In the vibrant city of Shreveport, the blend of innovation and artistry seems to be leading the way into a bright future.
