Shreveport: A Glitzy Night at Artini with Maggie Martin

Shreveport’s arts scene was buzzing with excitement this past weekend as the Bossier Arts Council hosted a dazzling event honoring the esteemed Pam Atchison during the sellout extravaganza of Artini: Herbert’s Town & Country Rhinestone Cowboy at Sam’s Town. The event, attended by 500 guests, was a celebration of art, creativity, and community spirit.

A Tribute to Pam Atchison

Pam Atchison, a long-time executive at the Shreveport Arts Council, was showered with applause and admiration for her unwavering dedication to the arts of Northwest Louisiana. While some reports may have erroneously labeled her as “retired,” Atchison simply transitioned to a new role within the organization as the director of the upcoming Christmas in the Sky fundraiser. The Bossier Arts Council seized the opportunity to honor Atchison’s remarkable contributions and express gratitude for her tireless support over the years.

Recognition for Featured Artist Rachel McDonald

The 2024 Featured Artist, Rachel McDonald, captivated attendees with her innovative work that blends graphic design and fine art. Inspired by her upbringing in North Louisiana and her global travels, McDonald brings a unique perspective to her creations. With a background in graphic design and a master’s degree from the University of Florida, McDonald uses her skills to make a positive impact in the community, embracing design as a tool for social change.

Artini 2024: Rhinestone Cowboy Extravaganza

The highlight of the evening was the dazzling display of outfits worn by the guests, who fully embraced the Rhinestone Cowboy theme. Attendees donned a stunning array of attire, ranging from formal pink frocks to denim shorts paired with rhinestone-studded boots. The fashion show was a testament to the creativity and enthusiasm of the Shreveport arts community.

Entertainment and Awards

Guests were treated to live music by Jimmy Wooten & Band and DJ Faze, creating a festive atmosphere for dancing and celebration. A panel of esteemed judges, including David Beverley, Priscilla Borrego, and Chef Hardette Harris, presided over the selection of the 2024 ARTini Cocktail Winners, adding an element of friendly competition to the event.

Celebrity Sightings and VIP Guests

The event drew a crowd of notable personalities, including Pam Atchison’s husband, Bob Atchison, and Bossier Arts Council Executive Director Brittainy Pope. The VIP section was graced by sponsors and supporters, who enjoyed a special entrance adorned with a giant horseshoe prop. Hand-painted martini glasses were a unique touch, with guests selecting their favorites upon arrival.

Success and Cheer for Bossier Arts Council

Overall, Artini: Herbert’s Town & Country Rhinestone Cowboy proved to be a resounding success for the Bossier Arts Council, bringing together art enthusiasts, supporters, and community members for a night of glamour and camaraderie. The event showcased the vibrant arts scene in Shreveport and highlighted the passion and creativity of local artists and contributors.
