Most residents of Shreveport will know Roy Griggs as a successful entrepreneur and the President and CEO of Griggs Enterprise, a well-known brand in the region. With an impressive portfolio that boasts 17 McDonald’s locations across the ArkLaTex region, it’s hard not to admire his journey. Starting his career as a teenager flipping burgers at McDonald’s, Roy has risen to become the first African American to own a McDonald’s franchise in Shreveport.
Griggs has always emphasized the importance of community and support, recognizing that his success is a product of collective effort. He credits those who paved the way for him, demonstrating a genuine understanding of the struggles and achievements of past generations. On top of his business achievements, he has also played a vital role in nurturing future entrepreneurs through the establishment of the Roy Griggs School of Business at Southern University Shreveport.
