Sponsor Our ArticlesShreveport-Bossier, LA, is buzzing with news that’s sure to spark excitement in the local community and beyond. The Shreveport-Bossier Film & Entertainment Commission is making a comeback! This wonderful initiative, spearheaded by the talented Wade Marshall, aims to establish the region as a top-tier destination in the film and entertainment industry.
Wade Marshall isn’t just any leader; he’s a true local with a passion for what Shreveport-Bossier has to offer. With over 20 years of experience in film production and music composition, Wade is primed to take the area to new heights. His journey started in 2001 in the heart of Los Angeles, where he worked as a film composer. However, after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Katrina, Wade was inspired to return home in 2007 and contribute to the burgeoning film industry in Shreveport-Bossier.
For more than a decade, Wade played a pivotal role at Millennium Studios, helping to bring a myriad of film projects to the region and fostering the local film community. Fast forward to 2022, when the city acquired Millennium Studios, and Wade made an exciting transition to the city’s Economic Development team. Following that, he took on the role of Superintendent at Independence Stadium, where he has overseen major community events like the Independence Bowl.
The revival of the Film & Entertainment Commission is an integral part of the 10-year Destination Masterplan that aims to amplify the region’s cultural identity while supporting local businesses. According to Stacy Brown, the President & CEO of Visit Shreveport-Bossier, Wade’s deep-rooted connections in the community combined with his industry insights make him the perfect candidate to elevate the area.
Stacy has expressed her confidence, stating, “His vision for showcasing our community’s unique assets will be instrumental in positioning Shreveport-Bossier as a top destination for film and entertainment.” With this new direction, the commission is setting its sights on several pivotal initiatives: boosting film industry growth, fostering workforce development, and revitalizing local entertainment.
So, what can residents and visitors expect from the revived commission? Well, the focus on the film industry could mean more exciting projects being filmed in the area, leading to an increase in tourism and local business support—think of all the new opportunities for jobs and entertainment! By attracting filmmakers and entertainment ventures, Shreveport-Bossier can grow significantly economically.
The commission’s strategy is not just about films; it’s about revitalizing the local scene, creating an all-encompassing cultural haven. The idea is to draw year-round visitors, fostering a vibrant atmosphere that supports local shops, restaurants, and more. Imagine a busy street filled with people enjoying the arts, music, and cinema while contributing to the local economy—sounds like a win-win, right?
As Shreveport-Bossier embarks on this exciting new chapter under Wade Marshall’s leadership, all eyes will be on the developments of the Film & Entertainment Commission. Whether you’re a film buff, a local business owner, or someone who simply enjoys what this vibrant community has to offer, there’s a lot to look forward to!
