Shreveport’s Sheriff’s Candy Land Delights Families This Holiday Season

This December, the charming city of Shreveport, Louisiana is bursting with holiday spirit as the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office rolls out its very first edition of Sheriff’s Candy Land at Safety Town. This festive wonderland is aimed at spreading joy and cheer throughout the community during this magical season, and boy, are they delivering!

A Festive Open House Event

Recently, the Sheriff’s Candy Land opened its doors with an exciting open house event that welcomed lots of smiling faces. Kids had the golden opportunity to send their letters to Santa, making sure their wish lists were packed with everything from tablet cases to Barbie dream houses. The excitement in the air was palpable as little ones eagerly scribbled down their hopes for Christmas.

“We want to ensure that every child gets a chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas,” shared Malaysia Simon, a representative from the crime victim reparations program at the sheriff’s office. “After we collect these letters, we’ll send them straight to the North Pole. And guess what? Santa is going to pick some lucky families to receive special gifts from us here at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office!”

Festive Fun Throughout December

The activities don’t stop there! The Sheriff’s Candy Land has tons more planned for the community. From pancakes with Santa to cozy movie nights where kids can attend in their pajamas, there’s truly something for everyone. “We want to make this holiday season a memorable one for our community, and we’re thrilled to offer these fun activities,” expressed Simon.

The sheriff’s office is also reaching out to families involved in their crime victims reparations program in a very special way. On December 21st, they are hosting a lovely brunch just for them, complete with gifts and support. “We want to ensure that our victims of crime feel loved and cared for during this season,” Simon explained. “This is our way of giving back and letting them know we’re here every step of the way.”

Kids’ Wish Lists

Back at the Letters to Santa event, children were brimming with excitement as they filled their notes with the items they hope to unwrap on Christmas morning. The variety was delightful—everything from cool gadgets to arts and crafts supplies was on their lists. Many kids expressed desires for the latest toys, making it clear that this holiday season is full of hope and innocence.
