Shreveport Choir Celebrates 15 Years of Joyful Harmonies and Community Connection

Shreveport Choir Celebrates 15 Years of Joyful Harmonies!

In the heart of Shreveport, Louisiana, a vibrant celebration is underway as the Hattie Perry Community Center Choir marks its incredible 15th anniversary. The theme of the upcoming program is “We’ve Come to Praise Him”, and you won’t want to miss it! This special event is a testament to the choir’s commitment to bringing people together through the power of music and faith.

A Journey of Harmony Since 2009

The choir’s journey began with their first rehearsal on October 8, 2009. Fast forward to today, and they are still going strong. Two of the original 12 members, Jacqueline Solomon and another passionate singer, remain dedicated to this uplifting initiative that has become a staple in the community.

Jacqueline, who has been with the choir from the very start, shares her feelings about this milestone, saying, “We just like to get together and sing praises to God.” Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s clear that the fellowship and camaraderie within the choir extend beyond just music.

Welcoming the Community

The choir is excited to invite everyone to join them for the anniversary celebration. In addition to their own performances, attendees can look forward to hearing from other talented choirs from the Shreveport area. It promises to be an entertaining and heartfelt experience for all who attend!

Jacqueline reflected on the choir’s evolution, remembering those who have been a part of it over the years, including members who have passed on. “We have some great singers in our choir. Some have been in the choir and they’ve passed on, then we always get others to come and be in the choir with us,” she commented warmly. Their ability to keep the spirit alive after so many years speaks volumes about the strength of their community bond.

A Community Gathering

One of the unique aspects of the Hattie Perry Community Center Choir is how it acts as a hub for seniors to gather and connect. Jacqueline emphasized this point, saying, “They will be very happy to see that we are still carrying on and keeping Hattie Perry open and available to seniors to come and fellowship.” It’s a place where everyone can come together, share stories, and celebrate life through song.

Many know the value of fostering connections, especially among seniors, and Jacqueline believes that gatherings like this are essential. She reflects on her favorite part of being in the choir: “Anytime you can get seniors together, get them out the house to come in fellowship with one another and just enjoy one another’s company, it’s a good thing.” It’s not just about singing; it’s about creating lasting friendships and joyful memories that can uplift everyone involved.

Looking Ahead with Joy

As the Hattie Perry Community Center Choir approaches its anniversary celebration, there’s a palpable excitement in the air. The harmony shared among its members is truly inspiring, and they are eager to showcase their collective talents while honoring their past. Everyone in Shreveport is encouraged to come out, lend their voices, and, most importantly, celebrate the unity that music and faith can bring to a community.

So mark your calendars and join in the festivities for both a joyful musical experience and a precious reminder of the bonds that keep us together, enriching our lives, and lifting our spirits! Here’s to many more years of singing, fellowship, and praise!
