Shreveport nonprofit hosts community meeting to support growth in Mooretown
SHREVEPORT, La. – A town hall meeting was held in the Mooretown area Thursday in an effort to revitalize Shreveport neighborhoods. It was all part of the relaunching of the To Our Destiny Community Development Corporation. The initiative works to revitalize, enhance, and empower neighborhoods in the city.
Community Gathering
A number of community members gathered at the meeting, as well as local leaders. The group hope to address social, economic, and environmental challenges facing Shreveport. To Our Destiny CDC hopes to support affordable housing initiatives and small businesses, provide resources to entrepreneurs, and foster economic growth.
Addressing Challenges
“We must be a community that responds to crisis, not react, as with the recently displaced residents of Shreveport apartment complexes. We should stand ready by developing and preserving affordable housing options for residents of all income levels,” said Dr. Pamela Phoenix, CEO and president of To Our Destiny CDC.
Plans for Mooretown
The group plans to meet with community leaders and government officials to develop and grow the community of Mooretown. The public was invited to attend the meeting to learn more about To Our Destiny CDC’s programs and services.
