Shreveport DDA Executive Director Search Narrows to Two Finalists

Key Developments in the Selection Process

In a significant step forward, the Shreveport Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has narrowed its search for an executive director down to two promising candidates. The board is currently in the process of conducting thorough background checks and reviewing social media activity on the finalists as part of their due diligence.

Next Steps for the DDA Board

Michael Corbin, the chairman of the DDA Board, expressed optimism about the process. He mentioned that the board and the search committee plan to meet again by the end of next week to select their preferred candidate. Following this decision, they will kick off discussions regarding an employment contract. A public announcement will occur once an agreement has been finalized. “I think at this point, we’re doing our due diligence,” Corbin remarked. “Glad that we’re using the search firm to assist us with this, and we think the outcome is going to be good for downtown Shreveport.”

Background of the Search Process

The DDA Board previously voted to enlist the help of a national hiring agency during its meeting on April 24. This move was aimed at expanding the candidate pool beyond local options. Alongside the two finalists, four local candidates had been considered. These included:

  • Adam Bailey, Community Planning and Design Manager at the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission
  • Guy Fortt from the Department of Children and Family Services
  • Cedric Glover, former state representative and mayor of Shreveport
  • Adrian Diego Lopez, Executive Director of the Save Energy Coalition

Current Leadership Situation

In the interim, Janie Landry is stepping in as the acting director, taking over for Liz Swaine, who left the position in December 2023.

Conclusion

As Shreveport moves forward in selecting its next DDA executive director, all eyes will be on the upcoming board meeting. The decision will not only shape the future of the DDA but also impact the greater downtown community.
