Shreveport’s DWI Unit Arrests Six Individuals in Separate Incidents

In the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, the Police Department’s DWI Unit is sending a stark message to citizens: drink and drive, face jail time. On the night of June 5, the unit arrested six individuals in six separate incidents all linked to suspected drunk driving.

Individual Arrests

In the evening’s first reported incident, officers attended the scene of an accident at the intersection of Jewella Avenue and Southside Drive. A male of 23 years, identified as Sam Jennings, was apprehended on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Likewise, a second collision at the intersection of DeSoto Street and Hearn Avenue saw another suspect, 28-year-old Alexander Ruebin, arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and reckless operation of his vehicle.

More Incidents Throughout the Night

A minor collision later in the evening led to the arrest of Rebecca Compton, 57. She was taken into custody for allegedly driving under the influence. Another call, this one regarding a vehicle mysteriously parked on a set of railroad tracks on the 400 block of East 85th Street, resulted in the arrest of 58-year-old Victor Washington. He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, and was found with an open alcohol container in his vehicle.

As patrols continued throughout the evening, a further DWI arrest was made after a traffic stop. The vehicle in question was noted to have no headlights on. The driver, 21-year-old Travis Toennesen, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and for possessing an open container of alcohol.

The Final Arrest

The final arrest of this eventful evening came when an individual, identified as 44-year-old Regile Duos, drove through a police barricade. He too was subsequently arrested, on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

These incidents serve as a stern reminder of the commitment by law enforcement in Shreveport to clamp down on impaired driving. Their message is unequivocal: drinking and driving will not be tolerated and will lead to arrest.
