Shreveport Residents Get a Little Extra Time for Property Tax Payments!
Hey there, Shreveport! We’ve got some important news that might just take a little weight off your shoulders. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced that they will be waiving interest charges on property taxes until January 13. Why, you ask? Well, there’s been a bit of a hiccup with the mailing of those all-important annual property tax notices!
What Happened?
Typically, these tax notices hit your mailbox well ahead of the deadline, allowing everyone plenty of time to take care of business. But this year, things were delayed due to the sheriff’s office waiting on crucial tax roll information. Because of this hang-up, the mailing process didn’t start until the week of Thanksgiving!
So, if you’ve been looking around your mailbox wondering where your tax notice is, you’re not alone! The good news is, the sheriff’s office is on it, and they are still in the process of sending out the notices.
How to Pay Your Taxes
Now that we know the situation, let’s talk about how to make sure you stay on top of your payments. You have several options to get those payments in:
- Mail it in – Send your payment through the postal system.
- Pay over the phone! Simply call 833-538-8539 to take care of it.
- Online payments are also an option—you have the convenience of paying from the comfort of your home.
- In-person payments are always welcome too!
Special Saturday Payment Opportunity
If you like to do things face-to-face, the sheriff’s office is offering a special Saturday payment opportunity! From 8 to 11 a.m. this Saturday, you can stop by the Sheriff’s Safety Town to pay your taxes. Just a heads up—only checks and credit cards will be accepted at this location, so make sure you come prepared!
Additional Payment Days
But there’s more! On December 28, you can make your payments between 8 a.m. and noon at two different locations:
- North Substation on state Highway 1 in Oil City
- South Substation on Mansfield Road in Keithville
Both of these locations will accept cash, checks, and credit cards, giving you plenty of choices.
A Little Breather for Property Owners
With the interest charges waived until January 13, this gives everyone a little time to breathe and ensure that payments are made without the added worry of interest piling up! So, don’t stress out—take a moment to gather your materials and get those payments sorted out!
