Shreveport, LA – A west Shreveport woman fell victim to a fatal shooting on a regular Tuesday night. The crime was allegedly committed by her own son, a convicted felon.
The unfortunate incident happened past 11 p.m. in the 4700 block of Westwood Park Drive. The son, identified as 36-year-old Lederrick Gant, is accused of shooting his own mother.
As per the Shreveport Police Department records, Gant dialed 911 and admitted to committing the crime. He was detained by the police immediately and was originally charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.
His mother tragically succumbed to her injuries on the very night of the incident, leading law enforcement to upgrade Gant’s charges to Second Degree Murder instead.
According to reports provided by law enforcement, the fatal bullet had hit the victim in the upper body, ending her life on a grim note. The incident marks a gruesome domestic violence case and has brought shock and disappointment to the community.
Gant, already being a convicted felon, will now face his justice for allegedly committing such a heinous crime.
A Caddo Parish Animal Control vehicle on the scene added to the complexity of the case. As of now, it is unclear whether the presence of the vehicle had any relevance to the shooting.
